If the substance is hard to identify, photos at 1 minute and 10 minute intervals can assist us to identify it for you. Keeping photos will also help you to compare test results between batches.
This means the substance is something other than what you were expecting. You can find the full colour chart on our website. Find which steroid on the chart matches the colours you can see for each test kit vial. If you have any questions or cannot figure out which one it is, contact us and we will help you. See our blog article for an explanation of what inconclusive results can mean.
If there is no reaction, the substance contains no steroid. Please let us know so we can add the details to our database.
For oils, one tiny drop from an insulin syringe is enough. For orals, a pinhead-sized sample is enough. Adding too much to the vial can cause the colours to be too dark to compare to the chart easily.
The test kits only contain 0.1ml of chemical reagent in each vial. This is for your safety (reagents can be corrosive and/or toxic), and because only a small amount is required. Let the vials stand upright for a couple of minutes before using to allow all the reagent to settle to the bottom of the vial.
Reagents are chemical solutions that react when brought into contact with a tiny sample of a substance. The chemical reaction causes a color change, which you cross-reference against our color charts to verify if the intended compound is present.
1-Step Kits: Use a single reagent solution to check for the presence of a target compound.
2-Step Kits: Use two separate reagent tests sequentially on fresh samples. A 2-step process provides greater accuracy by helping rule out common adulterants or cross-reacting fillers that a single test might miss.
Reagents are sensitive to heat, light, and oxygen:
Store kits upright in a cool, dark, and dry place (such as a refrigerator) when not in use.
Keep bottle caps tightly sealed immediately after use.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
When stored correctly in a cool, dark environment, unopened and sealed kits have a shelf life of approximately 3 months. Exposure to excessive heat or air will cause reagents to degrade faster.
Yes. Reagent bottles contain corrosive acids and chemicals. Always handle them with care:
Wear protective gloves and eye protection when testing.
Perform tests in a well-ventilated area on a chemical-resistant surface (like ceramic or glass).
Never ingest reagent chemicals or allow them to contact skin or eyes. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with plentiful cold water and seek medical advice.
No. We ship exclusively within New Zealand (including Rural PO Box addresses). Orders placed with international delivery addresses will be automatically cancelled and refunded.
Due to health, safety, and chemical integrity reasons, we do not accept change-of-mind returns on chemical reagents or consumables once dispatched.
If your order arrives damaged, leaking, or defective, please contact us within 7 days of delivery at [email protected] with clear photos of the damage. We will arrange a replacement or remedy in accordance with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA).
